Week 9 - MKTG 33449 - Real World AdWords

For this weeks blog post I decided to write about the the post that was posted on the Linkedin weekly weed. This Article from Business Insider talks about Google's plans for innovating in China and Sundar Pichai's, "The Chief Executive of Google", view on it. He elaborates and emphasis on the idea that people can gain a lot more useful information, and he gave an example of medical information. He stated that in todays generation people unfortunately receive counterfeit cancer treatments or they actually end up gaining useful information. This is horrible and he says that every individual should be able to get easy user friendly access to google. It would allow for mankind to flourish in an efficient way. The purpose of Google is to provide individuals with beneficial and useful information in the world to be easily accessed. China has not been able to receive access to google for the past decade due to Chinese government regulations. This is blocking the chinese population's freedom to access info.

This is a huge issue because the Chinese Government does not allow its citizens to express their own opinion. They have been restricted from Freedom of Speech. Sundar Pichai is disgusted by this and it states in the article that he is in contact with senators by writing a letter. It is crazy to think that this is actually a real issue because Google plays a very crucial role in my life and especially in my academic career.

MKTG 3345 - Week 8 - Search Traffic

For the 8th week of class, we were assigned to look into how much traffic comes to the website through organic searches. As I stated in an earlier blog post, an organic search is when users search up specific words on google and shows up as an unpaid organic result (not advertised to come up on top searches). TO get a better understanding of search traffic, I went into the acquisition overview. After that I set the date range from January 1st to March 7th and I came to this conclusion.  Based off of this one can see that organic search users were made up of 38.3% of the traffic for the website. Direct searches on the other hand was higher at 56.6 percent. Direct searches are when someone uses a link and it directly takes them to the landing page of the website. Thus, Social and referral traffic make up the rest of the data. Organic search had a total of 88 users and direct searches had a total of 125 users. week 3- MKTG349 - chapter 3 & GA

This week I learned a lot of new things about Google Ad, the one-minute marketing video, and also the chapter in the textbook. One thing I did not know was that google customizes its search results based on location, keywords, and just relevance in general. Our search results are also based off of what company paid the most at a certain time to have their results be on the top of the page. These Advertisements are labeled very small on the left-hand side of each link. I think this is the first week where I truly got a feel for the book and I appreciate the fact that the author put forth a lot of effort into really elaborating on things and sometimes multiple times in different ways. This makes it much easier for different kind of learners to really grasp the subject matter. I am also looking forward to getting the ball rolling with google ad. Now I have a better understanding of how it works and the cost behind it all, but I honestly did not sit down and watch the 40-minute tutorial...
